Sass Cafe in Monte Carlo, Monaco – The Jet Setter’s Hot Spot

 Sass Cafe

Located on avenue Princess Grace in Monte Carlo, Sass Cafe has become known as the "in" spot for the international jet set. It made headlines last year when U2 frontman Bono celebrated his birthday with a dinner party for 12 with guests including Prince Albert II, The Edge, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. What I feel makes Sass Cafe so very special are all the different elements that fuse so well together to make an evening at Sass Cafe one you will never forget.

Okay, so where shall I begin. The swanky decor, the cozy well stocked bar, the intoxicating music, the well-heeled international crowd, the most amazing live piano band ever, the friendly service, and last but not least, the food…oh yes the food are all ingredients that contribute to an AMAZING experience at Sass Cafe! I was honestly incredibly surprised that the cuisine was so impressive. I had visited Sass Cafe prior, for overflowing bubbly and live music, but never for dinner. Usually in my experience, places that share their space moonlighting as an after hour's nightlife haunt often tend to lack in the gastronomy department. Well, happy to report that all was not the case at Sass Cafe.

Sass Cafe offers a varietal selection on the menu from seventeen savory starters including several salads, carpaccio, foie gras, salmon tartare and caviar of course. Second courses include Les Pates (Pastas), Les Risottos (Risotto), and a nice selection of Les Poissons (Fish) and Les Viandes (Meat). I started with the Salade de Haricot verts et Foie Gras a L'huile de Truffes (French Bean and Foie Gras Salad with Truffle Oil) and the Carpaccio de Boeuf (Beef Carpaccio). I followed with the recommended special of the day which was the Risotto Homards et Truffes Noires (Lobster Risotto with Black Truffles) and ended with the Mandarin Orange and Chocolate Sorbet served in a gorgeous wine glass which was heavenly.

In fact, what I absolutely loved about Sass Cafe was how it transitions from gourmands respectfully enjoying their decadent meals at their white table clothed tables, to gourmands getting in to the groove of the vibe and magnifying beats of the music, while drinking the best sparkling wine in the world and dancing the night away. My meal and entire experience at Sass Cafe is one I will never forget. I've always heard of Sass Cafe as a favorite among the most famous and elite travelers of the world, and now I know why. It is definitely on my list of places I must visit again very soon.

Mika, is it true that they are going to open up a Sass Cafe in Las Vegas? I heard that through the grapevine. If you know any details, please report. Love your site btw.
