Craftsman and Wolves, San Francisco – First Look

IMG_7918

The much-anticipated opening of chef William Werner’s Craftsman and Wolves is now a reality. Serving an evolving, seasonal selection of sweets with several savory dishes, this is a contemporary escape in the heart of the Mission. And while the location on Valencia may be hipster central, one step in this chic patisserie and you will easily feel as if you’ve been transported to an ultra high-end pastry shop overseas. With modern aesthetics in both interior design and product display, Craftsman and Wolves is all about the details.

I attended a sneak preview, and was impressed with the offerings and space. CAW, with their delicately thought-out menu is a venue where I could easily stop in for a casual breakfast – Sightglass coffee, Passion Fruit Sesame Croissant + Yogurt and granola. On the other hand, the decor and menu makes it the ideal location for an afternoon Formosa oolong tea time and lunch with the ladies. CAW is a unique addition that San Francisco has been both lacking and unexpectedly waiting for. It’s also another reason you may want to hit the gym extra hard this week.

The Mission is the new location for restaurants and bakeries it seems. It may be because the rent is cheaper than downtown or soma but it’s great either way.

I do agree it’s a great thing. The Mission has really flourished in the last 5-10 years as a major SF dining destination. I love that you can still get your fix of authentic taquerias, but if you are craving something a bit more high end, you can find it there as well.
