MySpace.com- A Place for Friends. At least it was on Thursday evening as the social networking mammoth hosted an all out soiree coinciding with the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco. Earlier in the evening, I attended Frescobaldi's Luce Brunello di Montalcino launch where we wined and dined on chef Dominique Crenn's sumptuous savories which earned her the title of Esquire Magazine's 2008 Chef of the Year. Therefore it was only fitting that I later ended up at the invite only MySpace Music party where they had a ton of sweets on hand to satisfy my craving for dessert.
D.J. AM Spinning at MySpace Music Party
The folks at MySpace sure know how to throw a party. Not only did they have Lionel Richie performing an exclusive private concert just for invited guests, but they also had D.J. AM spinning his world class tracks in another area. The historic Old Mint building and it's countless rooms were transformed in to a super chic party paradise with open bars, passed hors d'oeuvres, multiple dance floors, and delightful desserts.
With platters of mini apple turnovers, brownies, chocolate chip cookies and cupcakes in one room, you'd think that would've been enough sugar to satisfy the sweet tooth of the multitude of tech geeks. But MySpace did not stop there. They dished up loads of caramel corn, ice cream waffle cones, and plates of caramel apples to enchant the inner child foodie in all of us. There was even a varietal mousse station with fresh blueberries and raspberries to spruce up the standard chocolate or vanilla.
Although the event was in San Francisco, the event felt more like a party in L.A.. The weather even had a Southern California state of mind as party goers reveled in The Old Mint's spacious outdoor courtyard dancing, mingling, and enjoying in the libations. Another familiar L.A. face, Ashton Kutcher was also in attendance since his show Blah Girls is being distributed on MySpaceTV.
Lionel Richie's Live Performance at MySpace Music Party
And for those that are wondering, YES! Lionel belted out the classics and had the crowd roaring in excitement as he bursted out chart topping hits, such as Brick House, Hello, and All Night Long. Congratulations to MySpace for bringing the San Francisco evening alive with top quality entertainment, dazzling grandiose decor, an opulent space, and last but not least, a fab selection of savory sweets to go with my champagne bubbly.

Lionel Richie and DJ AM in San Francisco? Wow that really was a LA type party. Thanks for the photos and details Mika. I love Food Fashionista and read it daily. My husband and I are fans of Aureole so we were so happy you covered the anniversary event. Thanks for keeping us in the loop with your great taste and recommendations.

This was a great party. I came across your posting while searching Google and must say that your piece was a cool twist combining the food and style angle to a myspace techie event. They threw another party back in October which was quite cool too here in san francisco. Hope to see you at the next one.
