SFC Brown Bag Lunch Project – Great Restaurants, Great Cause

Brownbag

“Ask not what you can do for your country. Ask what’s for lunch.”
—Orson Welles

WHAT: On FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2010, in the spirit of fall’s back-to-school season, 26 of San Francisco’s top restaurants are packing an inspired, one-of-a-kind “brown bag” lunch for six and auctioning it off online. Get together with your six closest co-workers, beg your boss. Make an excuse for a lunch meeting, plan a picnic or play hooky. Casual Friday is looking up.

WHY: In the past two years, the state has cut 17 billion dollars from school funding, creating a critical situation for public education. One hundred percent of proceeds will go to San Francisco Community School, a progressive K–8 public school located in the Excelsior neighborhood. Help support programs from physical education to the arts to our growing garden. Our auction goal is to raise $5000!

HOW: Each restaurant’s lunch for six will be auctioned off online, at the SFC Brown Bag Lunch Project site, from now until September 24, 2010. Winners will be alerted on September 27. Lunches will be available to be picked up at the corresponding restaurants at noon on October 8th.
