This is no ordinary neighborhood café and bakery. Cassava is the Outer Richmond gem serving well-executed offerings, at affordable prices. Tiny in size, but big on flavors, this newlywed team of Kris Toliao and Yuko Ioroi incorporate high-quality ingredients into their short, but sweet menu. Start the day off with a Sous-vide poached egg with chorizo, queso fresco and tomato sauce or a just out-of-the oven quiche. Toliao’s attention to detail is apparent with previous stints at Michelin-starred spots including Luce in S.F., and Kikunoi in Japan. And speaking of Japanese, Cassava serves a traditional Japanese breakfast on weekends. They also offer special dinner tasting menus at their 12-seat communal table, but do book up fast. It’s BYOB until they get their wine and beer license, so grab your favorite beverage and come on over to Cassava.
