Opened just five months ago in the historic Baixa district, Prado in Lisbon is already well on its way to become a food lover’s destination restaurant in Portugal. There is a natural connection with the seasonal food, friendly and knowledgable service, open space, and flowing energy between the kitchen, dining and wine room. Prado serves only biodynamic, natural and organic wines which pair well with the creative cooking and nationally-inspired cuisine. The dishes at Prado don’t strive to be visually sophisticated, but rather focus on the importance of taste and freshness and that’s what matters most when dining. Many restaurants these days have dishes that may look picture perfect on Instagram, but aren’t so satisfying when you actually eat them. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case at Prado. We really enjoyed every one of Chef António Galapito’s dishes.
There is also a connecting market which you’ll want to visit for a well-curated selection of local Portuguese-related culinary treats or gifts. When I return to Lisbon, Prado will definitely be one restaurant that I return to.
