This year, the popular salame company, Gallo Salame, celebrates 100 years of continuing the Italian meat tradition. As part of the celebration, Gallo Salame has opened up a pop-up Italian restaurant, Trattoria 1910, nestled in an adorable side street in the heart of downtown San Francisco.
Trattoria 1910 pays homage to the Old World, a major inspiration for the Gallo Salame Company, with its ambience and traditional yet clever menu. Visitors to Trattoria 1910 will be greeted by servers dressed in early twentieth century attire and will be seated in a charming atmosphere characterized by rustic brick-walls and decorations of hanging rolls of salame. During the day, the restaurant’s skylights stream down light at just the perfect angle, creating a spotlight on the tables and the delicious food arrivals.
If you are in San Francisco, this fabulous pop-up restaurant from one of the world's most popular Italian meat companies has a lovely little secret- the meals here are free! Though, be sure to make your reservation online as this limited-time eatery will only be around until June 18.
Yesterday, I stopped by Trattoria 1910 to attend their Old World Workshop Event. The event featured a hands-on cooking demonstration where the lovely Chef Catherine DeOrio showed event attendees how easy it was to create a quick Italian meal incorporating salame.
After the workshop event, diners were treated to the appetizing salame inspired menu items for lunch. Ranging from traditional to clever, the menu items reflected an essence of the Old World flavor while adding a modern twist.
If you get the chance to visit Trattoria 1910 this week, the Salame Macaroons are simply a do not miss dessert item. Along with the impressive presentation, the macaroons combined the perfect combination of sweet and punchy flavors from the salame, freshly sliced strawberry garnish and sliced taro root chips.
Trattoria 1910 will be open for business from May 26th to June 18th. While the restaurant does accept walk ins, reservations are highly recommended and can at be made online www.trattoria1910.com.
